Wildlife

I have always been passionate about wildlife and conservation and when not photographing people I can often be found out in the countryside and on nature reserves. Though we have of course lost species, we are lucky to still have such a diversity of birds, butterflies and insects in the British countryside. Many species are still under threat, but it is heartening to have met so many like minded people when out and about photographing the natural world.

NCW Inverts and etc

It has all gone a bit quiet bird wise on the nature reserve, but a couple of photos from a quick wander. Dragonflies starting to emerge, Emperors seen and first Speckled Wood and Ringlet butterflies around.

Queen Wasp

We have had a few Queen Wasps banging against the windows in the house, presumably looking for nest sites.  This individual I found looking a bit lacklustre on the bathroom windowsill.  I gave her a few drops of Lidl's finest apple juice and within a few minutes she got her wings fired up and buzzed out of the window.  Walk with the animals, talk with the animals doo dah day...
